ALTENBERGER
THE ORIGINAL SINCE 1842
ALTENBERGER has been producing the finest herbal spirits for more than 180 years. The city of Altenberg in the Osterzgebirge gave it its name. Here the aromatic & soothing mountain bitter was drunk by the miners who used to mine tin in the village. Affectionately called "Heimaterde" by the locals, he is still "the traditional", "the well-known", "the one from before", "the right one", just the ALTENBERGER.
THE BRAND
is the famous herbalist.
By the way, the bearded old man with the pipe in his mouth really existed. Many years ago, Max Holtegel collected the calamus root in the swamps of the area and delivered it to the manufactory. It was preserved as a symbol. Wherever he appears, excellent Altenberger spirits are guaranteed.
This is what the manufactory and the people stand for
behind the brand and the first-class products. Already in the 6th generation, the noble recipes for
the classic ALTENBERGER Gebirgsbitter,
ALTENBERGER Bitter, ALTENBERGER Kalmus,
and ALTENBERGER Vogelbeerlikör below
handed down the strictest secrecy.

ENJOY NATURALLY
Our Altenberger Kalmus, a noble drinking brandy, does not contain any added sugar. Sweet flag was originally used in Ayurvedic medicine. The essence obtained from the dried roots of the medicinal plant gives the excellent spirit an ethereal smell and a pleasantly bitter taste. If you definitely don't like it sweet after a meal, you should definitely try this excellent Kalmus.
